60–75 minutes · Self-guided learning
Floods are the most common disaster covered by this course, and one most RISE partner countries have already experienced. The type of flood you face decides how much warning you will get. This module draws on floods in Spain, Türkiye, Italy, Ireland, Germany and Belgium, and helps you prepare your household for the next one.
You will learn to
- tell the difference between river, flash and coastal floods, and identify which applies to your home
- read an official flood warning and know where to check one for your area
- prepare a household flood plan, a pet evacuation plan and a 72-hour emergency kit
- take the correct protective action during a flood, at home and in your community
- identify one household action and one community action to complete this month
